The bank edge is solid and dredged so you can get right up tight, which you need to because it can be a bit of a motorway along this stretch. The bank is wide enough for you to barbecue on it and you've got easy access into Marbury Wooods over the bridge, and also access into the large nature reserve (Dairy House Meadows) from the bank, so lots of places to go to stretch your legs.
